Black Queer Book Club

The Black Queer Book Club (“BQBC”), co-founded as a direct response to the popularity of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, is one such project germinated from this principle. Its success is marked by the fact that it remains one of the few spaces on the island of Ireland which is dedicated to curation of events and safe spaces for Irish Black queer people. Though I am currently on hiatus from my role as community engagement coordinator and cultural activist with BQBC, my impact can still be felt from the legacy building practices I have implemented:

From my coalition building efforts with fellow grassroots organisations, cultural institutions, and NGOs (e.g. the Luxury gala thrown in collaboration with Transgender Equality Network Ireland, Small Trans Library and IMMA); to the implementation of digital and value based infrastructure which is foundational to the operation of BQBC to this day, ensuring accessibility, sustainability and vision-scaping for the future.
