About Me - title in dark purple typeface boarded in white

HI THERE! I’m so stoked that you want to get to know me. First off: I’m a Virgo. This is important to know because it’s probably why I’m so proactive, detail-oriented, and determined.

I’m also here and I’m queer (shout out to trailblazing Black feminists, lesbian agitators, femmes and fems)! I believe it’s important to be outspoken about these things as a first generation Black Irish person. I am also a victim and survivor of queer Intimate Partner Violence : something that does not receive as much attention as it should. I am not a perfect victim. It’s important for me to acknowledge this truth publicly as I want to stand as testimony to the fact that while it’s a part of my history, the magic I once thought they scrubbed from me is still here… some of which I’ve curated in this website.

So without further ado…

'Black Queer Book Club' in a handwritten dark purple font

For over five years, I have demonstrated strong community engagement practices in grassroots initiatives for communities of interest, particularly queer people of colour (“QPOC”). The Black Queer Book Club (“BQBC”), co-founded as a direct response to the popularity of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, is one such project germinated from this principle. Its success is marked by the fact that it remains one of the few spaces on the island of Ireland which is dedicated to curation of events and safe spaces for Irish Black queer people.

With a passion for advancing social justice, equity, and community engagement through the arts, I continue to be a transformative figure in the cultural landscape, dedicated to creating a more inclusive and vibrant artistic community.

'Haus of Schiaparelli' in a handwritten dark purple font

In 2023, I established The Haus of Schiaparelli, a kiki house and collective which pushes the boundaries of artistry and self discovery while looking to the rich tradition of Ballroom. Named after the legendary fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, known for her avant-garde designs and fearless approach to fashion, the Haus of Schiaparelli draws inspiration from her audacity and flair. The creation of the House marks a historic event in Irish LGBTQ+ history, as it is verifiably the first Black led and centered House to organise a Ball on the island of Ireland, and one of the first Houses to throw a Ball on the island of Ireland generally.

' Public Engagement' in a handwritten dark purple font

My contributions to public engagement are also extensive. I have participated in workshops and programs, such as the IMMA Summer Programme (2024), Dublin Fringe Festival Fuse Labs (2023), and the Citizens Curation Project. My involvement in panels and interviews, including the Gorm Media migrant and first generation panel on Generational transformation (2024) and my selection as a judge as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival (2024), showcases my dedication to knowledge sharing, community discourse, and artistic commentary. My written works have been featured in various publications, including Bloomers and GCN Magazine, where I explore themes of cultural activism and artistic expression. I have also been part of residencies like the Create Collaborative Arts Summer School, focusing on democracy and misinformation through collaborative practice.
